Job Summary:
Responsible for the maintenance, creation and update of Geographic Information System data.
Responsibilities:
- Update GIS Data Base from constructed work order designs.
- Using GIS technologies enter and manipulate system and attribute data from manual sources (maps, drawings, documents, etc.) and records.
- Update GIS Land Base from Subdivision Plans and Engineering Drawings.
- Update GIS Land Base from the County and City sources.
- Make corrections to GIS attributes and feature placement.
- Establish and maintain linkages to other databases.
- Conduct mapping research, in the field and in the office, to resolve conflicting information and ensure the accuracy of the data.
- Provide GIS support and services to all internal and external users.
- Perform field verification's to assure Geodatabase accuracy.
- Maintain printing and plotter supplies.
- Coordinate maintenance of all map printers and plotters.
- Create and maintain map books and one-line diagrams.
- Support Distribution Design staff by importing commercial site surveys into the temporary Land Base.
- Maintain all paper map archives.
- Valid driver’s license and be in compliance with the Company’s Driving Program policy.
- Complies with all applicable Company policies, procedures and code of ethics as well as all applicable governmental laws and regulations to include employment, safety and environmental standards and regulations.
- Perform other related tasks that are not included, but are within the context of the duties defined.
Requirements:
- Degree in Geography with an emphasis on GIS is preferred.
- Associates of Applied Science with an emphasis in Drafting and Design Technology with two (2) years of post-secondary study in a drafting/mapping or related technical field to include Geographic Information Systems; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- 0 - 3 years of experience
- Knowledge of electric utility systems, with the ability to discuss the parts and functions of various electrical and mechanical components of a utilities' high or medium voltage systems.
- Proficiency in computer software applications to include AutoCAD, Excel and Word.
- Knowledge of ESRI GIS software and Geodatabase concepts.
- Knowledge of mapping techniques including cartographic and topological concepts.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with officers, managers, fellow employees, and the general public.
- Ability to maintain a strong sense of propriety concerning confidential matters.
