Journey Lineworker/Lineman 

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly skilled journeyman lineworker/lineman to join our company. You will be running overhead and underground electrical cables, installing electricity meters and inspecting power lines and wiring for repair or replacement.

To ensure success as a journeyman lineworker/lineman, you should possess extensive experience as a lineman and the ability to work independently. A top-notch journeyman lineman will be someone whose expertise results in the safe and efficient provision of power supply to our customers.

Journey Lineworker/Lineman Responsibilities:

  • Recognize for efficiency in troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on building and facility emergency systems.
  • Interpret inspection findings and determine the adequacy of corrective actions, including clearance of components, tolerances, proper installation, and operation.
  • Installing transmission and distribution lines between power plants and individual buildings or homes.
  • Live line work, grounding procedures and clearances/hold orders, and PPE.
  • Connect transformers, transformers banks, capacitors, and make proper connections to services.
  • Work on an array of electric voltages from 2.4 KV to 240 KV.
  • Install and remove transformers, capacitors, switches, conductors, and other similar equipment.
  • Complete jobs according to OSHA regulations
  • Specialize in ad hearing to OSHA guidelines dealing with hazardous electrical materials and chemicals
  • Fit, glue, and install CPVC and PVC piping systems associated with high purity water purification systems.
  • Reading and interpreting electrical wiring diagrams.
  • Digging trenches or climbing poles to repair or maintain underground and overhead electrical cables.
  • Install or remove poles, towers, arms, pins, insulators, dead ends, and associated equipment in and on energized circuits
  • Measure voltage and current, phasing and paralleling circuits, power or lightning transformers and regulators
  • Performing inspections to prevent power outages by replacing or repairing components.
  • Clearing away tree branches or other hazards near live power installations.
  • Troubleshooting power outages and problems with electrical lines and wires.
  • Attending to call-outs and performing repairs in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Reporting progress, complications, concerns, and delays to the supervisor.
  • Adhering to safety standards at all times, as well as complying with company and industry regulations.

Journey Lineworker/Lineman Requirements:

  • Experience as a Journeyman Lineworker/Lineman, Journeyman Lineworker/Lineman certification with a one-year certificate in electrical repair, or similar.
  • Must meet an examining board review of skills and experience.
  • Must be able to complete a pre-employment assessment at the (Company) training facility.
  • Individuals must have a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • Journey lineman must have high experience with climbing gear, digger derricks, aerial lifts, backhoes, tensioners, pullers, and also have formal hot stick training and experience
  • Demonstrable apprenticeship under a senior journeyman lineworker/lineman.
  • At least 2 years' post-training work experience in a related role.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal safety regulations and guidelines, including those outlined by OSHA.
  • Lineworker/Lineman must have knowledge of wiring diagrams, as well as electrical and building codes with superb troubleshooting abilities.
  • One must have great organizational and time-management skills with exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
  • This Position required the time perform repairs outside of business hours if required by the Company
